ENRICHMENT
ACTIVITIES
The
Linguistic Cultural Center COMUNICAR offers afternoon and evening activities
to enrich your language and cultural experience. These activities include:

Latin
Dance Classes: Learn to dance like Latinos. This class will
teach you the most popular dances of Costa Rica and Latin America
including the salsa, merengue, cumbia , and marchado. The instructors
have considerable expertise in Latin American dance.

Folkdance
Classes: A class in Costa Rican folkdance will be offered every
two weeks . An experienced will teach you traditional Costa Rican
folkdances such as the Punto Guanacasteco and Ticas Lindas.

Costa
Rican Cooking Classes: Once a week ,you will be offered the
opportunity to learn how to cook and prepare delicious Costa Rican
foods. Your Costa Rican culinary skills will impress your friends
and relatives.

Craftsmanship
Classes: A craftsmanship class will offered approximately every
two weeks. In this classes, you will learn to make purses, baskets,
or decorative items for the household using such materials as macramé
and fur.

Latin
Music Classes: Offered weekly, music classes will provide you
with the chance to learn the folksongs of Costa Rica, Mexico, Cuba,
Chile, and other regions of Latin America. In this class, the instructor
will help you analyze and understand the meaning of songs you are
learning.

Film
Night and Theater: Once a week, an instructor will accompany
students to a Spanish language play or film. The viewing of films
or plays is an enjoyable way to improve language proficiency.

Excursions:
On weekends, we will organize several excursions to different places
of interest in Costa Rica . During the week, we will take students
to theaters, museums, discotheques, and places of interest ( such
as The Britt Coffee plantation tour) in the vicinity of Alajuela
and nearby San José. The excursions are an excellent opportunity
to discover Costa Rica.
