The white sand and crystal clear waters attract nature lovers, surfers, giant-turtle watchers and sun-seekers all year round. Playa Tamarindo also boasts Costa Rica's best beach climate as this region receives the least amount of annual rainfall. For the active, sports of all kinds are available: Golfing, Kayaking, Surfing, Snorkeling, Diving, Fishing, Horseback Riding, Hiking and Mountain Biking. The town also offers art galleries, handmade crafts from around the world and a wide variety of restaurants and cafes. Tamarindo's night life includes discotheques and local "fiestas" that move from town to town but are never far away. Come and learn to speak Spanish with WAYRA and take advantage of multicultural diversity, scenic splendor and peaceful tranquility.   THE PROGRAM     Our professional experienced, and a multilingual faculty, teaches with the most modern methods to small groups of 6 or less students. Spanish programs start every Monday year round. The first day of class, students are screened and placed in their appropiate Spanish level. TEXTS WAYRA has developed its own classroom methodology. Additionally, we incorporate materials from various conversational text sources. This results in an eclectic system which enables the student to learn Spanish as quickly as possible with special attention paid to individual learning styles and modalities. OTHER ACTIVITIES 1. Latin dance lessons with local instructors. 2. Other services: Information on current events and festivities, night life, restaurants, great beaches and natural wonders. HOMESTAY AND LODGING We do not offer homestay in Playa Tamarindo. The Costa Ricans that live in Tamarindo are mostly fisherman and their homes do not have adequate facilities to host foreign students. We do offer homestay in Villareal and Santa Rosa. These two towns are five to six kilometers outside Tamarindo and are not on the beach. The homes are small and typical. The price per week is $100 and includes a private room, breakfast, dinner and morning transportation to the school. Playa Tamarindo offers many hotels, cabins and apartments to choose from. We can furnish a Hotel list if needed. TRAVEL INFORMATION Direct flights from Miami to Liberia are available. From Liberia Airport, is a 45-minute drive to Playa Tamarindo. From San José, you can rent a car and drive to Playa Tamarindo (5 hours drive) or you can take a bus. Daily flights are also available directly to Playa Tamarindo. It is a 30-minute flight and arrives and departs daily.
